Poorly designed handleAugust 31, 2010 Rebecca S. Carpenter After 3 months of occasional use the plastic on the top of the grater cracked and then the handle wouldn't fit in the box rendering it useless. I was very disappointed because usually when I pay a premium it's to get long lasting quality products. Now I'm using the $2.99 hand held grater I've had for years.
Sharp but poor qualityJuly 6, 2010 Jennifer L. Palmer(Roy, UT United States) I am now on my second Microplane box grater. The grippy feet and removable plate are great. The problem I have had now with 2 graters is the housing cracking after a couple of months of use. Both have cracked near the top of the item and the grating plate has started to come out. Not happy-for the price this should not happen.
Don't buy itMay 7, 2010 gourdess(Park City, UT USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Don't buy this. Graters are not meant to be made out of plastic. They crack. I've had this grater for a couple of months and it has already cracked. Way too expensive to crack after such a short time. Find an all metal grater if you want one that will last.
Poor quality plasticApril 26, 2010 June(Freeland, WA) I was very happy with this grater as it did a great job of grating cheese with its super sharp surface. The plastic showed signs of age after six months and completely broke apart at 9 months. I never put it in the dishwasher even though it is rated for this as I know that can age plastic. Micoplane needs to use a better quality plastic. I puchased one for my daughter and hers is also cracked and ready to die.
bought this for a friendApril 6, 2010 curious cook(greenville, SC) realized she was a clueless cook, and kept it for myself, to save it from moldering in a forgotten cabinet. It does a good job, but isn't really a necessary buy for anyone already in possession of a good assortment of Microplane graters. Doesn't really bring anything new to the party. But it is pretty to look at and nice in the hand.
